Out of School Care Educator

Flex Academy is a JK-12 brick-and-mortar school which is a division of HCOS located in Kelowna, BC. In this Christ-focused, campus-based program, we are combining the best of classroom experience with the versatility of online tools to develop a hybrid model of education that makes education as expansive and flexible as possible.

The Position:

Flex Academy has an openings for an Out of School Care Educator! This is a part-time, on-site, positions working on-site five days per week (primarily after school hours) for a total of 20 hours per week. The primary role of the Flex Academy Out of School Care Educator position is to develop and facilitate meaningful out-of-school care programs for students in Grades K-5.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop, plan, and facilitate the Flex Academy “Sparks” After School Care Program in a creative, engaging, and supportive manner 
• Develop, plan, and facilitate the Flex Academy “Sparks” Kids Camps during Professional Development Days and School Breaks 
• Develop engaging learning and play opportunities for students 
• Develop and maintain a relational atmosphere where students experience connection with one another and with staff in a safe and creative learning space
• Listen and respond to families, staff, and stakeholders using professional etiquette to maintain timely and supportive communication with families
• Ensure activities, spaces, and procedures are in line with Interior Health licensing requirements for after school care 
• Adhere to HCOS processes and policies, developing and implementing all programs in alignment with the values and ethos of HCOS: Flex Academy

Qualifications

• 5+ years working with children 
• Experience planning activities for children  
• Must have a valid First Aid certificate (e.g., Emergency Child Care First Aid & CPR)
• Food Safe Certification 
• Responsible Adult Certification or willingness to obtain employer funded certificate

• Competitive wage $25.19 – $26.49 per hour depending on experience and qualifications
